Tourism Whitsundays has been advocating for the Whitsunday region following the effects on tourism from the recent monsoonal rain. The effects on the tourism industry can be felt right up the coast to Far North Queensland. Last week we asked members to fill in a survey for us to report back to Tourism and Events Queensland and State Government on the impact the monsoon has had on our tourism industry’s bottom line. Thanks to those who were able to report back to us, we are hopeful of an outcome this week.
Over the next week the Brand DNA findings will be presented to council and the board. Tourism Whitsundays has recently launched a targeted consumer campaign for Airlie Beach and Bowen. The campaign is scheduled to run for 12 weeks, we’re focusing on attracting the attention of the local market to drive visitation through this traditionally slow period. Consumers from Cairns to Gladstone and inland as far as Emerald are within the target regions. In addition to targeting specific areas we’ve also drilled down to specific messaging to further capture the attention of the different segments within those markets. Tourism Whitsundays believes by using a strategic targeted campaign we’ll have better conversion rates. The campaign is focusing on all the amazing experiences Airlie Beach and Bowen has on offer from overnight sailing to day trips to snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, visiting the beautiful beaches, exploring the islands and experiencing world renowned Whitehaven Beach, as well trying the many delicious dining options and excellent accommodation on offer – our region has a diverse range and Tourism Whitsundays intends on showcasing this.
