|In Review |Here at Tourism Whitsundays we’ve been heavily in campaign land for the past few months, kicking our year into high gear was the confirmation of the $1 million Whitsunday Island Campaign and the announcement of the $250,000 Whitsunday Mainland Campaign (Monsoon Flood Recovery).
As part of the Whitsunday Mainland Campaign we saw the Today Show bring their presenters and crew for an outside broadcast in March at the Airlie Beach Lagoon, as well as 2 days of weather crosses at Bowen’s Horseshoe Bay and Long Island’s Palm Bay. Also, part of this campaign incorporated activity through trade partner MyQld who packaged together Whitsunday Coast flights, tours and accommodation. The Whitsunday Mainland Campaign focus is to put a global spotlight on what our diverse mainland has to offer, from Airlie Beach, Bowen, Collinsville and Proserpine.
Next was the Whitsunday Islands Campaign this is a major $1 million jointly funded initiative between Cruise Whitsundays, Daydream Island, Hamilton Island, Hayman Island, Tourism and Events Queensland and Tourism Whitsundays. This campaign was centered primarily around the rediscovery of the Whitsunday Islands in support of our iconic Whitsunday Island resorts reopening their refurbished doors.
The Whitsunday Islands campaign is being targeted at key domestic markets such as Melbourne, Sydney and throughout Queensland. The fund includes a comprehensive creative media buy campaign which includes office towers in Sydney and Melbourne, street furniture and social and digital activity across Melbourne, Sydney and throughout Queensland. This campaign will also include exclusive media launches in London and New York targeting media outlets in those crucial international markets.
If you’ve been interstate over the past few weeks you would have been smacked in the face with the amazing advertising for this campaign WONDERS OF THE WHITSUNDAYS, the striking WOW has caught the attention of many!
Along with the huge advertising schedule for this the campaign, we’ve also set up a specific landing page thewhitsundays.com.au which incorporates deals for Cruise Whitsundays, Daydream Island, Hamilton Island and InterContinental Hayman Island Resort and a link to explore more of the Whitsundays on the Tourism Whitsundays website.
If you’re into House Rules on Channel 7 you’ve probably caught the More To Explore tv commercial we recently shot which takes in the many beautiful spots on the mainland to explore, from the Bowen River Hotel in Collinsville, to Lake Proserpine, to the amazing Bowen beaches and of course Airlie Beach, this activity is part of the Whitsunday Mainland Campaign. The More To Explore tv commercial is being aired from Mackay to Townsville and inland to Moranbah capturing the attention of our key drive markets and is also being followed with targeted social media clips.
Much to our delight we’ve this week announced our Whitsunday Coast social media campaign, which is also part of the Whitsunday Mainland Campaign, and whoa nearly 200 entries already!! What a response less than 24hrs after announcing!! The campaign will be run until 2:00pm next Friday 21 June 2019 and encourages Instagram users to share their favourite Whitsunday Coast image whether it be from their own collection of images or an image of the Whitsunday Coast from our Visit Whitsundays Facebook Gallery with photo credit. Entering is easy – simply head to Instagram and post your Whitsunday Coast image and caption in 25 words or less why you would rather be on the Whitsunday Coast. Don’t forgot you need to tag #lovewhitsundays #adventureairlie and #whitcoastgiveaway to be eligible!
Following the Whitsunday Coast social media campaign, we’ll run straight into the Wotif conversion campaign which we believe will help increase forward bookings, this campaign will feature accommodation and tour deals around the Whitsundays and will use clever targeted advertising to capitalize on the buzz created by the social media campaign.
